Swim Lesson #2 - a slippery slope
Our second swim lesson was kind of a tough one. They started out doing the blow bubbles with your nose deal, and then did the circle and went up and down in the water (you're suppose to hummmmm). Fast forward to Lukas hopping up and down on one leg, just having a good ole time when he loses his footing and starts to go under...bobs back up...under again...bobs back up gasps...and then finally the instructor grabs him and tells him to slow down. I thought he would have been really freaked out, which he kind of was, but he didn't cry like I thought he might. Brad and I were glad it happened, as we hoped it was a good lesson to learn.
Fast-forward to near the end of the lesson and Lukas is bobbing under the water again! He isn't getting his footing and I'm nervous. This time, both instructors are out in the deep water giving lessons to 2 other kids. I start to yell, "Can somebody help him?" (Lukas bobbing up and down, trying to get his footing)...nothing...louder I say, "Can somebody help him?!"...still bobbing...then I say, "HEY!!!" and at that time Lukas gets his footing. Mind you, he's in about 3 feet of water (I'm guessing), but if you're not flat on your feet, it can be really dangerous!
Okay, calm down. He's okay. But still, I was a little shaken up that I had to stand there and watch my little man half-way drown. I almost jumped in there after him!
Anyway, live and learn. We're going to continue to practice humming and will do what we can in our litle bathtub.
This girl (and the one next to her above) are by far the best swimmers in the mix. They are total fishes and are always diving under the water. Very cool!
